Fur sales volume rose

September 07, 2025

In a recent report from Northeast Qiqihar, it was noted that as temperatures dropped, the fur market experienced a significant surge in activity. Rising raw material costs have led to higher fur prices, yet consumer demand remains strong and unaffected. On the morning of November 9th, reporters visited several shopping malls and found that fur shops were bustling with customers. Notably, even non-fur specialty stores began selling various types of fur, with prices ranging around 30,000 yuan. At one shop located on the third floor of Mart Plaza, fur coats were displayed above designer bag counters. These coats featured classic styles in black and brown, with prices comparable to those in professional fur shops. The store owner explained that this year’s fur prices have significantly increased, with Shanghai purchase prices now exceeding previous levels by 1,000 to 5,000 yuan. As a result, retail prices have risen considerably compared to last year. Despite the higher cost, the store's modern designs—inspired by European and Korean trends—continue to attract a younger, fashion-conscious female demographic. Although the prices are slightly higher, many customers still inquire and try on the items, and sales remain steady. At several dedicated fur stores, hundreds of different fur items were on display, drawing in large crowds of shoppers. A store manager shared that this season’s popular styles include women’s shawl collars, Korean-inspired hats, and men’s collared jackets and caps. Popular color choices such as sapphires, crosses, and purple dyeing have made fur more appealing, contributing to increased sales. While prices have gone up, this hasn’t deterred consumers, as the fur season typically peaks around mid-December. Sales have already started to rise steadily this year, with many customers drawn to the warmth, comfort, and stylish appeal of fur. Even with slight price increases, the desire for fashionable clothing remains strong. The main reason behind the rising fur prices is the increased demand combined with a shortage of raw materials. This has driven up the cost of fur at the source, leading to higher retail prices. Additionally, as living standards continue to improve, people are more willing to invest in luxury fashion items, further supporting the upward trend in prices. Later, the reporter visited a franchise specializing in leather clothing and learned that autumn and winter are the peak seasons for fur and leather jackets. These garments are among the most popular choices for both men and women, with a growing variety of styles and colors available. Previously, leather jackets ranged from 1,000 to 3,000 yuan, with high-end options reaching up to 5,000 yuan. This year, however, the cost of raw materials has increased by 20% to 30%, resulting in higher production costs. Some leather jackets now cost 200 to 500 yuan more than last year, while fox skins have risen by about 40% and Rex rabbits by 50%. Despite these price hikes, sales of leather clothing remain stable, with a clear upward trend. Consumers continue to value the quality, style, and comfort of leather garments, making them a top choice during the colder months.
