Indian Weaving Company Asks Government to Cancel Import Anti-Dumping Duty on Yarn

January 30, 2019

As the price of polyester yarns soared in the domestic market, the Indian Power Weaving Weaving Mill requested the central government to abolish import anti-dumping duties on yarns to help troubled companies survive.

The Surat region's textile industry accounts for 40% of the country's demand for man-made fibers. The region has more than 650,000 power looms and produces about 25 million meters of cloth daily.

In the past three months, yarn producers have increased the price of nylon and polyester yarns by Rs 30-40/kg, raising the end-user price to Rs 130-140/kg.
