In 1860, Prince Saltikov of Russia became a Russian customer of Cartier. In 1888, Cartier created the first jewellery watch.

Louis-Francois hopes that his career will be passed down from generation to generation in his family, and he will pass on his craft to the eldest son, Louis-Francois Alfred (1841-1925). Cartier worked with his son to run the company as a partner and eventually handed over management to him in 1874. Later, Alfred continued his Cartier company in 1898 with his son Louis Cartier as a partner.

In 1899, Cartier made an important step to move the store to the 13th rue de la Paix, a high-end commodity center in Paris. The centuries-old shop was elegant and luxurious, and Cartier did not relocate until today.
