Last month, Justine shared her contribution to our Bento Tee Round-up. Now, she's back with a beautiful First Communion dress she crafted for her daughter. Enjoy this delightful creation!

**Pattern Used:** Building Block Dress, Fairy Tale Dress
**Fabric Used:** For the overskirt and underbodice, I used silk taffeta. The overlay is made from Alençon lace, while the net underskirt was cut from a thrifted dress I had at home.

**How Did the Sewing Go?**
This project was surprisingly quick since I didn’t have to sew an underskirt with multiple layers of netting and lining. I even wrote a tutorial on my blog for creating a faux overlay bodice—it’s such a straightforward method! You can check it out [here](#).
The bodice itself comes from the Building Block Dress book, but I added darts inspired by the Fairy Tale Dress pattern. Silk binding was used around the neckline, following the instructions in the Building Block Dress book. I also shortened the sleeves.
For the overskirt, I used a single piece of 54-inch silk taffeta. Cutting it from selvedge to selvedge, I divided it into two pieces and shaped the front into a curve. It’s fully lined with leftover silk from another project.

**What Was the Best Part?**
I began the dress on a Tuesday and finished it by Friday—quite fast compared to some of the other special occasion dresses I’ve made, which often take up to a month! But what truly made this project special was seeing how happy Genevieve was in her dress. She felt so elegant and cherished wearing something she helped design. Plus, the dress fit her tall, slender frame beautifully, unlike many off-the-rack options that are too short-waisted for her. She absolutely adored it!

Thank you so much, Justine! Your creativity and attention to detail always inspire us.
